Plastic Water Tanks are classified on the basis of position, layers, and technology used for the manufacturing process.
Different types of plastic water tanks on the basis of position are-
Overhead Plastic Water Tanks-
These are the water tanks which are placed on the overhead of the house. The water from these tanks is used for the purpose of cleaning, cooking, bathing and drinking purposes. Overhead water tanks come in different capacities according to the need of the family. Plastic water tanks are widely used nowadays as they are easy to install and maintain.
Underground Plastic Water Tank-
These are water tanks which reside under the ground and are used for the purpose of storage of water. They come in larger capacities when compared to the overhead water tank. They can be used to store rainwater and later used for any purpose. Easy to install and maintain is the biggest advantage of these water tanks.
Different types of plastic water tanks on the basis of layers are-
i) Single Layered
ii) Double Layered
iii) Triple Layered
Single Layered Plastic Water Tanks-
These are the water tanks which have only one layer of plastic. These type of tanks are not UV protected and are low-quality water tanks and also cheaper than double and triple layer water tanks.
Double Layer Plastic Water Tanks-
These are the water tanks which have two layers of plastic. One layer serves as the outer layer and the second layer can either act as UV protection or for visibility. These water tanks are better than single layer water tank but inferior to triple layer water tank. Its cost varies between single layer and triple layer.
Triple Layer Plastic Water Tanks-
These are the water tanks which have three layers of plastic. One layer serves as the outer layer, the second layer serves as UV protection and the third layer serves for better visibility. They are best in quality and most durable water tanks. They are also costlier than single and double layer water tanks.
Different types of plastic water tanks on the basis of technology used are-
i) Blow Moulding
ii) Rotational Moulding
Blow Molding Plastic Water Tanks-
It is one of the technologies which is used for the manufacturing of water tanks. Blow molding is the process of blowing into the insides of a tube. Hollowed out material is blown with great force, producing plastic hollow pieces in the tube. When the pressure process ends, the plastic parts come out.
Rotational Molding Plastic Water Tanks-
Rotational molding is the process of filling a mold with hot plastic resin and slowly turning these particles until they are dry and even on the inside of the mold.
